A draw took place in Zurich on Friday (December 13) to determine the 12 qualifying groups for the 54 UEFA (Union of European Football Associations) nations.
Wales were part of Pot 2, which also featured:

- Sweden
- Türki̇ye
- Hungary
- Serbia
- Poland
- Romania
- Greece
- Slovakia
- Czechia
- Norway
Who do Wales play in the 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers?
The nations in Pot 2 were separated into different groups, with Wales being drawn in Group J where they will come up against:
- Belgium
- North Macedonia
- Kazakhstan
- Liechtenstein
Wales competed in its first World Cup in 64 years back in 2022.
If they qualify for the 2026 edition, it will be the first time ever Wales have featured in back-to-back World Cups.

When will the World Cup qualifying matches take place?
The group stages of the World Cup Qualifiers will begin in March 2025 and will run until November 2025.
The play-off matches will then be held on March 26 and 31, 2026, just months out from the World Cup.
