Ahead of their trip to New Zealand to take part in the 2024 world cup, Wales’ over-60s ladies hockey team have been put through their paces at a warm-up tournament in Germany.
Player Beverly Rogers told Caerphilly Observer how the team managed to secure a silver medal, drawing against the Netherlands and beating Germany before ultimately losing to eventual winners England.
She said: “Having lost to Germany recently it was great to get back to winning ways, but also great comradery as the German team joined in our cool down and tai chi at the end of the game.
“We only lost 1-0 to England too so that was a very close game. We’re feeling good ahead of the tournament.”
As their trip to New Zealand is self-funded, Beverly has asked anyone willing to sponsor to email at bev.rogers1@sky.com
