Wales v Montenegro predictions
Wales are back in their home stadium tonight as Montenegro come to town take on Craig Bellamy’s side, three days after Wales gave up a 2-0 lead in Reykjavik to only return home with a point in a 2-2 draw with Iceland.
The stalemate leaves the Dragons second in the group at the half way stage, two points shy of leaders Turkey and a point ahead of Iceland, while tonight’s visitors Montenegro remain pointless after three consecutive defeats.
Bellamy remains unbeaten in his three matches in charge since taking over from Rob Page following his failure to qualify for Euro 2024 earlier in the years, with the new boss having won one and drawn two so far.
Wales head into tonight’s game having lost just one of their last 13 matches in all competitions and unbeaten in their last nine competitive games, not including penalty shoot outs, and will be looking to extend that run and aid their push for promotion back to League A at the first time of asking.
Montenegro make the trip to Cardiff having lost each of their last five matches and lacking on confidence after their 1-0 defeat in Samsun to Turkey on Friday night left them without a point from their opening three Group B4 matches.
Managed by the former Real Madrid, Barcelona and Portsmouth midfielder Robert Prosinecki, who took over in February, the Brave Falcons won their first two matches under the Croat but five defeats in a row leaves them staring relegation back to League C in the face.
Wales and Montenegro have met on four occasions before with each team with two wins to their name, however, the last two meetings were both won by the Welsh, most recently last month when the Dragons went 2-0 up inside three minutes away from home to win 2-1 and record Bellamy’s first win in charge of his country.
Wales have kept clean sheets in each of their last two home games, while Montenegro haven’t scored in any of their last three matches on the road. I think a 2-0 Wales win looks the most likely.

Wales have kept clean sheets in each of their last two home games which have come against stronger opposition than tonight’s opponents in the shape of Poland and Turkey, and with Montenegro having scored just one in their three Nations League games so far, will be expecting another clean sheet tonight.
Kieffer Moore knows what it’s like to score early against these opponents having netted inside a minute of the return fixture in Montenegro last month, giving him fond memories of tonight’s opposition.
The Sheffield United striker is this current Wales squad’s leading goal scorer and will no doubt probe a nuisance to Montenegrin defenders tonight.
Wales won the away match 2-1 in Niksic and will be expecting to get the job done in Cardiff tonight to leave them looking in a strong position to earn promotion back to League A.
