Wales Under-20s beaten by Italy in Summer Series

Date:

Wales suffered a third successive defeat in their final game at the Under-20 Summer Series as they were beaten 33-19 by hosts Italy.

Wales looked on course for their first series victory when they went in at half-time 14-5 ahead – having been 14-0 up – in Parma.

But Italy took control after the break to inflict Wales’ third loss in 10 days, after their comprehensive defeats to England and France.

Prop Maisie Davies scored two tries for Wales, with wing Nel Metcalfe – who kicked two conversions – also going over.

But the Italians finished with five tries as they claimed a third win of the series following previous successes against Scotland and Ireland.

Wales U20s: Eleanor Hing, Nel Metcalfe, Kelsie Webster, Jenna De Vera (co-captain), Amy Williams; Hanna Marshall, Seren Singleton; Maisie Davies, Molly Wakely, Cadi-Lois Davies, Erin Jones, Alaw Pyrs, Lily Terry, Lucy Isaac, Jess Rogers (co-captain)

Replacements: Abi Meyrick, Cana Williams, Lowri Williams, Milly Summer, Katie Bevans, Freya Bell, Savannah Picton Powell
