This summer, Wales is offering travelers a new way to explore the country’s stunning landscapes with the introduction of unlimited rail travel passes. These passes are set to inspire both locals and visitors to experience the natural beauty and historical landmarks that Wales has to offer.
The passes, introduced by Transport for Wales (TfW), provide unlimited off-peak rail travel, giving people the freedom to explore at their own pace. Available in one-day and four-day options, the passes cover various regions, including the picturesque town of Tenby and the iconic Harlech Castle. The Explore Wales, Explore North and Mid Wales, and Explore South Wales passes allow for four days of travel within an eight-day period, while the Explore West Wales and Explore Cambrian passes cater to travelers looking for unlimited one-day travel options.
TfW’s initiative also extends to selected TrawsCymru bus routes, offering even greater flexibility and connectivity for those eager to discover more of Wales. With these passes, travelers can venture from North to South Wales, stopping at various points of interest along the way or focusing on a specific region.
Victoria Leyshon, Partnership Marketing Manager at TfW, highlighted the potential of these passes to enhance sustainable travel across the country. “Wales is a beautiful country with countless attractions, and these unlimited rail passes provide both visitors and locals with the chance to explore in an environmentally friendly way,” she stated. “There’s a pass for everyone, whether you want to see it all or focus on a particular area.”
The passes are available for purchase online via the Transport for Wales website or app, at ticket offices, or directly from a conductor onboard. The cost for an adult four-day Explore Wales pass is £149, while children’s passes are priced at £74.50.
This initiative is expected to encourage more sustainable travel practices and offer an affordable, convenient way to experience the diverse attractions Wales has to offer.
