Wales: Cân i Gymru 2025 Selection Jury Announced

S4C has announced the four member jury who will select the acts that will compete in the final of Cân i Gymru 2025.

The four person panel that will determine the artists who will be competing in a Song for Wales 2025 has been announced. S4C has revealed the jurors with a few days to go until the song submission window closes on January 5.

The members of the jury are:

  • Peredur ap Gwynedd
  • Catty (Catrin Hopkins)
  • Caryl Parry Jones
  • Sage Todz

The final of Cân i Gymru 2025 will take place on February 28, with the show taking place live from the Dragon Studios in Bridgend for the first time. As ever there are prizes for the songwriters, 1st prize will receive £5,000, 2nd place will win £3,000 and 3rd will receive £2,000.

Osian Huw Williams who has previously won the competition and is the lead singer of the Candelas is the chair of the jury in the show and will present the winners trophy. The show will be presented by Trystan Ellis-Morris and Elin Fflur on S4C.

What is the Pan Celtic Song Contest?

The Pan Celtic Song Contest has been held annually since 1971 and is part of the Pan Celtic Festival. The aim of the contest is to promote modern Celtic languages and cultures from the six Celtic nations of:

  • Brittany
  • Cornwall
  • Ireland
  • Isle of Man
  • Scotland
  • Wales

Wales is the most successful nation at the competition having won the event a total of 15 times. In contrast, the Isle of Man has won the event only once in 2014.
