Wales Bonner‘s Spring/Summer 2025 collection presented during Paris Fashion Week is rooted in history and legacy. Paying tribute to the archive of Althea McNish, a Trinidadian artist and textile designer who moved from the Port of Spain to London in the 1950s who later became the first Black British textile designer in Britain. When researching McNish’s work, Wales Bonner was able to gain access to the McNish estate, which led her to creating many pieces inspired by McNish’s own wardrobe.
Wales Bonner retells the story of McNish’s creative journey and legacy, bringing back original prints and embroideries that included collared shirts and hip-draping skirts. Taking her signature tropical aesthetic and pairing it with Savile Row tailoring in collaboration with Anderson and Shepard, the pieces take on a gleaming display, adorned in metal and sequin embroideries.
On the runway, Wales Bonner also revealed a new collaboration with adidas Originals, bringing a new black and silver-sequined adidas Samba to the mix. Men and women silhouettes are refined in the adiads Originals by Wales Bonner collection that include beachwear and more. A new footwear silhouette called the Country Low is seen in khaki suede and black and white leather featuring the brand’s Three Stripe moniker.
