UKSE Supports Children’s Hospital with Donation

Date:

UKSE has raised £800 for the Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospital in Cardiff.

The Tata Steel subsidiary, which supports Welsh business with loans and accommodation, donated £400 to the Noah’s Ark Charity, which was then match funded.

The donation marked the retirement of former UKSE Regional Manager in Wales, Glyn Thomas, who had a personal connection with the hospital.

“The charity is really close to my heart, given the support the hospital gave my family last year. It really made me appreciate the amazing work that the doctors and nurses do there each and every day,” he said.

UKSE Area Manager Rob Barber, who took over from Glyn this year, said he and the team in Wales were delighted to support the charity, which depends entirely on donations and gifts from wills. The hospital treats around 73,000 children every year, with specialist and often life-saving care.

“We are very pleased to be making this contribution to the excellent work that is undertaken here working with children and their families,” he said.

Fundraising development manager for the Noah’s Ark Charity, Lucy Jones, said:

“We simply couldn’t do what we do without the support of the Welsh community. The money donated and kindly match funded by UKSE will help us fund life-saving equipment and emotional and practical support for families during often very difficult times.

“It will help us fund vital services like the play specialist team and our Sparkle activities which give children a reason to smile during their hospital stay. Thank you.”
