Türkiye vs Wales predictions
All things considered, Craig Bellamy has had a promising start to his tenure as Wales manager.
Bellamy won 78 caps for his country in an international career which spanned 15 years. He then went into coaching, working with Vincent Kompany at Anderlecht and Burnley, before being appointed as the head coach of his country earlier this year.
Bellamy replaced Rob Page, who was let go after he failed to lead Wales into Euro 2024. His team finished third in their qualifying group (behind Türkiye among others), then lost to Poland in the play-offs.
Qualifying for major tournaments is the mid-term objective under Bellamy, but it will not be easy now that Gareth Bale has departed the scene and Aaron Ramsey is past his best.
For now, promotion to League A of the Nations League is the aim. Wales head into matchday five two points behind Türkiye at the top of their group.
These two teams drew 0-0 on matchday one, before Bellamy’s side beat Montenegro 2-1 for their first win under the new manager.
In the October internationals, Wales drew 2-2 with Iceland before completing the double over Montenegro with a 1-0 win at the Cardiff City Stadium.
A victory on Saturday would put Wales in a commanding position in the group. They host Iceland on matchday six, a game the Dragons would expect to win.
However, a defeat by Türkiye would ensure Wales can no longer go up automatically. A draw would also put Türkiye in pole position to finish top with one round of fixtures remaining.
Wales could get a second bite of the cherry, though. The four teams that finish second in the League B groups will advance to the promotion/relegation play-offs, where each runner-up will face a team that finished third in League A over two legs.
Wales will not be thinking that far ahead, though, not least because Bellamy and his players will believe they can go to Kayseri and win. That looks like a tall order, but Wales should not be written off despite their status as underdogs.
Türkiye vs Wales betting tips
Craig Bellamy takes his Wales team to Türkiye for their penultimate Nations League match.
Türkiye to win
Türkiye were the surprise package at Euro 2024. They finished level on points with Portugal in their group, before eliminating an Austria outfit that had emerged as potential dark horses.
Türkiye were narrowly beaten 2-1 by the Netherlands in the quarter-finals, but they departed with their heads held high.
That run to the last eight has reinvigorated the national team after years of underachievement. Türkiye have not played at the World Cup since 2002, while they failed to reach the knockout phase of the European Championships in 2016 and 2020.

Türkiye are now on the up. Since that goalless draw with Wales in September, Vincenzo Montella’s men have won three games on the bounce.
With a passionate home crowd behind them, Türkiye can extend their winning run to four games this weekend.

Under 2.5 goals
While a draw would keep Türkiye in control of the group, an attacking manager like Montella will be seeking a victory in this one.
That would allow Türkiye to wrap up promotion with a game to spare, giving their manager a chance to experiment against Montenegro on Tuesday if he so desires.
But Wales are a resilient team and they are not at all easy to play against, hence their unbeaten record.
Bellamy’s team have conceded only three goals in the Nations League. Of the 16 teams in League B, only Greece have a better defensive record.
Wales will have to dip deep to pick up a positive result away to Türkiye. They may ultimately fall short in that regard, but this looks set to be a tight, low-scoring affair.

Kerem Akturkoglu to score any time
Throughout his managerial career, Montella has encouraged his team to play attractive, attacking football. Around a decade ago, his Fiorentina team played some of the most technical, entertaining stuff in Europe.
The Italian has had mixed success since he began his journey with Catania in 2011, but he looks well suited to international management.
Türkiye fans are certainly glad to have him calling the shots given recent results, and the fact his team plays bold, front-footed football is a welcome bonus.
Kerem Akturkoglu is Türkiye’s top scorer in this campaign, having made the net ripple four times so far. No one in League B has been more prolific heading into matchday five.
Akturkoglu is full of self-belief right now and he can make his mark against Wales as Türkiye target promotion to the top tier.
