Travel disruption likely as Carmarthenshire to be battered by gales this weekend

Date:

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for wind which will be in place across the whole of the county between 9am and 11.59pm on Sunday, September 29.

It is the latest in a series of weather warnings issued for the Met Office across Wales in a week that has seen heavy rain and autumn arrive with a vengeance.

The Met Office warns that travel disruption across Carmarthenshire is likely as a result of the weather.

Other west Wales areas, including Pembrokeshire and Ceredigion, are also covered by the yellow weather warning for wind.

A spokesperson for the Met Office said: “It’s likely that some coastal routes, sea fronts and coastal communities will be affected by spray or large waves.

“Some delays to road, rail, air and ferry transport are likely. Some bus and train services will probably be affected, with some journeys taking longer.

“Some short term loss of power and other services is possible and delays for high-sided vehicles on exposed routes and bridges likely.”

Anyone due to travel in and out of Carmarthenshire, as well as elsewhere in Wales and into South West England, which is also covered by the warning, are urged to take care and leave plenty of time to complete their journeys.
