Transport for Wales Joins Period Positive Workplace Scheme

Date:

Transport for Wales (TfW) is set to offer free sustainable period products in all its stations and offices.

It has joined period care brand TOTM’s Period Positive Workplace Scheme, an initiative designed to help support period dignity and equality at work.

Ruby Parmar, TOTM Chair, said:

“Here at TOTM we are delighted to be partnering with Transport for Wales. It brings us such a sense of pride to be bringing our Period Positive Workplace Scheme to such a prolific network and one that will no doubt benefit thousands of staff and travellers alike.

“Making ethical period care more accessible whilst busting taboos around menstruation in the workplace forms a huge part of TOTM’s raison d’etre, so this partnership marks a big moment in our trajectory as a business.”

TfW is making products available to passengers onboard their services, beginning with their Premier services between Cardiff, Holyhead and Manchester. People who need a pad or tampon will be able to request them from a TfW team member or can a QR code on their seat. A TfW colleague will then deliver the product directly to the customer.

Marie Daly, Chief Customer and Culture Officer at TfW, said:

“We’re delighted to partner with TOTM to support menstrual wellbeing at work. We know the stigma and silence around periods in the workplace can impact comfort, productivity, and wellbeing, from getting caught short at work to struggling with period pains that disrupt the workday.

“It’s important we address period stigma in TfW so we can foster better working environments for our menstruating colleagues. Provision of free sustainable period care is a crucial step in breaking down the stigma and ensuring everyone is comfortable at work.”
