The Princess of Wales is getting into the festive spirit a little earlier than usual this year.
Kate arrived at Westminster Abbey yesterday evening to host her annual carol service, Together at Christmas, and naturally, opted to wear something classic and Christmassy.

The royal chose a vibrant apple-red Alexander McQueen coat adorned with a large black velvet bow. A flash of a red tartan skirt peeked out from beneath the coat, and she finished off the look with a pair of black suede heeled boots and gold drop earrings.
She was joined by her husband, Prince William, and three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.
Yesterday’s service marks the fourth year in a row that Kate has hosted Together at Christmas.
‘This year’s service provides a moment to reflect upon the importance of love and empathy, and how much we need each other, especially in the most difficult times of our lives,’ Kensington Palace described in a statement shared last month. ‘The service will shine a light on individuals from all over the UK who have shown love, kindness and empathy towards others in their communities.’
The palace continued, ‘Her Royal Highness wanted to celebrate the many people supporting those in need—individuals who have inspired, counselled, comforted, and above all else shown that love is the greatest gift we can receive. This theme takes inspiration from the Christmas story which encourages us to consider the experiences of others and the important human need of giving and receiving empathy.’
About 1,600 guests are believed to have attended this year’s service. Musical performances will feature the Westminster Abbey choir alongside singers Paloma Faith, Olivia Dean, and Gregory Porter.
The service will be broadcast for viewers across the UK, airing on ITV1 and ITVX on December 24.
