Team Wales Unveils Official Building Society Partner

Date:

Wales’ largest building society has announced a new exclusive partnership with Team Wales.

Principality Building Society says the partnership underpins its commitment to support and empower future generations by inspiring young people in Wales to build the confidence, knowledge and life skills to help them live, learn and earn.

Aligned with its social mobility ambition to help find, fund and widen access to job opportunities for underrepresented young people, the Society will be actively supporting the delivery of the Team Wales Youth Engagement Programme.

This bilingual programme is designed to strengthen connections with a diverse group of students in 200 primary, secondary and specialist schools and sport and youth groups across Wales over the next three years.

Tailored classroom workshops, assemblies, Q&As and presentations will be delivered by Team Wales athletes from over 20 potential Commonwealth Games sports. These sessions will blend the value and importance of engaging in sport with themes such as diversity and inclusion, physical and mental health and wellbeing, financial education, enterprise skills and sustainability.

Tony Smith, Chief Impact and Governance Officer for Principality Building Society said:

“This collaboration is a positive step forward for us to reach and engage with more underrepresented young people across Wales. We want to help future generations get the best start in life, to realise their hopes and aspirations, and collectively inspire them about future pathways, not only in sport, but also in further education and the wider world of work.”

Rebecca Edwards-Symmons, CEO of Team Wales said:

“Both Team Wales and Principality Building Society thrive on our Welsh culture and passion for supporting future generations, making us the perfect team. I’m thrilled they are our exclusive Building Society partner, and we can’t wait to work with the team on many exciting projects over the next three years.’
