One of Swansea’s leading independent lettings agencies has sold to another independent in a six-figure sale that secures the future of the business.

McCartan Lettings & Property Management Ltd was set up by Hannah McCartan in 2006. Since that time, it has established itself as a market leader in Swansea for providing quality rental accommodation coupled with best practice processes, resulting in numerous local and national awards.

Operating from Killay on the city’s outskirts, the team at McCartan Lettings works with renters, landlords, homeowners, contractors and more however after almost two decades, Hannah decided to sell the business.

“After an incredible 18 years, I felt it was the right time to sell,” said Hannah, “and I’m delighted to pass the baton on to the new owners, Newport-based Number One Property Management, who are the ideal team to drive the next stage of McCartan Lettings’ growth.”

With Number One Property’s head of lettings Emma Darlow taking control of the Swansea office, a smooth transition between Hannah and the new team was crucial as she explains.

“As with any business sale, we wanted to ensure a level of continuity that prevented any issues with the day-to-day operation, so with branch manager James White remaining in post to assist Emma and the new team, I knew the transition was in safe hands.”

Hannah said:

“Looking back to 2006 when I was writing the first business plan for McCartan Lettings, I’m super proud of what we’ve achieved. I set out to change the perception of what a Letting Agent could be, and I truly believe I’ve done that with the reputation and brand McCartan Lettings has become.”

She has already started her next business journey by founding The Landlord Community, a compliance and training hub to support landlords across Wales with practical advice on the latest lettings legislation.
