Support on offer for residents and businesses as Bridgend County Borough’s annual jobs fair returns

Date:

Bridgend County Borough’s annual jobs fair is returning to the Bowls Hall, Bridgend Life Centre on Thursday 19 September and there will be plenty of exciting opportunities on offer.

For the first time, there will be interactive elements where participants can engage with potential employers and learn more about a range of different industries.

The free event, which is run by the council’s Employability Bridgend team in partnership with Jobcentre Plus, will give attendees access to valuable resources and the chance to network with industry professionals. The doors will open to visitors at 10am and the event will finish at 1pm.

A range of temporary and permanent vacancies will be available, and the Employability Bridgend team will be available to offer support. Some of the employers confirmed to date, are:

  • CGI
  • Oak Tree Energy
  • First Bus
  • Horizon Civil Engineering Ltd
  • Nathaniel Cars
  • Dunraven Windows
  • Hunky Dory Restaurants
  • Tom Prichard Contracting
  • UK G4S
  • Home Instead

There will also be an area to promote the council’s new ‘Quickstart’ scheme which aims to support short term, paid work placements across the county borough with a view to participants gaining a permanent job within their host business at the end of that period.

Cllr Neelo Farr, Cabinet Member for Regeneration, Economic Development and Housing, said: “Over the years, the event has attracted large numbers of visitors, and employers have been matched with excellent candidates to fill their vacancies.

“We have a great line-up of businesses taking part so far, with a wide range of opportunities on offer- there’s something for everyone.

“It’s also pleasing to see that new elements are added to the jobs fair every year to keep up with the latest trends and to ensure that lots of varied support is available for both residents and businesses.”

There is a pay and display car park under the Bowls Hall as well as other parking options around the town centre.
