Roksanda Ilincic on dressing the Princess of Wales, and her new collection for George at Asda

Date:

Given that she’s dressed Michelle Obama, Cate Blanchett, Gwyneth Paltrow and the Princess of Wales, most people would expect to find Roksanda Ilincic’s designs hanging in rarefied splendour in Harrods, Selfridges or any number of upmarket boutiques throughout the world. They would not expect to find them next to the carrots in Asda.

In news that will delight fans, the Serbian-born, East London-based designer’s latest joint venture is considerably more affordable than her recent collaborations with Barbour, Jigsaw and FitFlop. And while it won’t quite sit next to the veg – as if – it really is almost as budget-friendly as the weekly grocery shop.

How budget-friendly? The most expensive item, a trench coat, is £60. The least expensive, a classic T-shirt, is £14. More casual than her main line, but in the same crisp and distinctive colour palette, highlights include a colour block polo shirt, a jersey maxi dress and a pair of wide-leg pyjama pants and coordinating shirt.
