Pretty seaside spot is one of UK’s least visited towns with barely any tourists

Date:

During the summer, Brits across the country flock to the UK’s most serene coastal towns and villages to soak up the sun and spend time with the family.

While some towns – like Blackpool – attract millions of visitors every single year, some lesser known spots fly under the radar.

One of those places is Aberaeron, a small town on the Ceredigion Coast in Wales’ east.

According to Trainline, Aberaeron is the least visited town in the UK via rail, alongside Melrose in Scotland.

Both of these destinations only had between one and 100 Trainline passengers from April 1, 2023 to March 31, 2024, they told Metro.

Aberaeron is known for its colourful houses and its charming town centre, complete with shops, restaurants and cafes.

Locals will tell you that Aberaeron South Beach is the perfect spot to go for a walk and be one with nature.

If you set off at the right time of year, you might even spot a porpoise or a bottlenose dolphin.

Those who enjoy architecture will be keen to see Llanerchaeron Estate, a National Trust property.

The 8th-century Georgian villa is located in the wooded Aeron valley. A farm, garden and lake make the property a peaceful place to visit.

Visit Wales says that Y Seler is a great place to eat thanks to its brilliant seafood, including mussels, scallops, cod, shrimp, and sea bass.

Trains to Aberaeron from London Paddington cost as little as £37 without a Railcard or £24.40 with one.

At peak times, the journey will set you back £99 without a Railcard.
