It has been a year to remember for CPDM Bangor footballer Menna Evans.
June saw the 18-year-old attacking player land the prestigious Genero Adran North Young Player of the Season award.
It was just reward for a youngster who in her first season at Tier 2 level scored six goals in 12 league games and netted eight times in 18 matches across all competitions.
She was a key player in Bangor staying in Adran North after a testing debut campaign.
The current 2024/25 season has so far been light on playing opportunities for Bangor as a whole, but Menna did make her mark by scoring four goals in a 12-0 NEWFA Challenge Cup victory against Coedpoeth United.
Another great achievement for Menna in 2024 has been making the 18-strong Ynys Môn women’s football squad which will compete in next year’s International Island Games in Orkney.
She is one of six CPDM Bangor players in the selection party.
Menna is a very exciting player to watch. She is strong, determined, possesses lots of pace and loves to take on opponents.
The Moelfre-based talent, who attended Ysgol Syr Thomas Jones, Amlwch, has scored 17 goals in 34 senior appearances for Bangor, as well as standing out in her games representing the Under-19 team.
It is wonderful to see young players from a club so dedicated to giving youth its chance, gain their just reward.
CPDM Bangor is a team with a very strong youth policy, although they do like to bring in some experience to help the progress of the younger element.
Football is not just about the now, it’s very much about the future, and Menna Evans is one of our many great prospects in North Wales worth watching in the year ahead.
