A North Wales consultancy’s planning expertise and UK-wide reach has been strengthened by the acquisition of a four-strong team of specialists.
Caulmert, which has offices in St Asaph, Bangor, Altrincham, Nottingham, and Kent has acquired Sheffield-based Crowley Associates, whose team will deepen the subdivision’s talent pool.
The move is part of Caulmert’s ambitious growth plans, which include doubling its turnover to more than £7.5 million across the next five years.
Founder of Crowley Associates, Susan Crowley, who is a chartered member of the Royal Town Planning Institute, will take up a place on the consultancy’s new-look board.
As director of planning, Susan will join Mike Caulfield (founder and managing director), Donna Milne (director), Paul Saville (director of engineering), Ffrancon Williams (business development manager), and Harry Caulfield (company secretary) in shaping the future of the company.
Crowley Associates will continue to operate under its own brand in the short term.
Susan, who has more than 25 years’ experience of working in both the public and private sectors, said:

“I’ve known Mike for a long time, we worked together for a period back in 2015, and I love the idea of seeing where we can go as one bigger, stronger unit.

“Crowley Associates operates in the planning consultancy space, delivering permissions for clients that are not only fit for purpose but add value.
“We work across the development sectors, not just delivering major city centre regeneration and student housing schemes, but also leisure and healthcare facilities, and specialist small-scale projects.
“We are really looking forward to rolling out the multi-disciplinary offer, building upon the strong reputation Caulmert already has throughout planning, engineering, and the environment.”
The unified team of experts is currently working together on the Bala Lake Railway Trust’s plans to extend the line into the centre.
This will build both a commercial and physical link between the town and the railway, helping to strengthen the tourist economy in Gwynedd and regenerate parts of Bala.
Caulmert founder and managing director Mike Caulfield is pleased to have Susan and her team, including Charlie Taylor, Rebecca Bentley, and Aslan Saylam join the company.
