Kate seen in public for first time since cancer treatment ended

Date:

The Princess of Wales has been seen in public for the first time since her cancer treatment ended.

Catherine and her husband Prince William joined the King and Queen at church on Sunday in Balmoral, Aberdeenshire.

It comes after the princess – who is known as the Duchess of Rothesay in Scotland – carried out her first official work meeting at Windsor Castle on Tuesday.

The princess, 42, had taken some time away from public engagements while undergoing treatment.

However, she had attended the King’s birthday parade, also known as Trooping the Colour, in June and the following month presented the winning trophy in the men’s Wimbledon final to Carlos Alcaraz.

She was also seen joining William, Charles and Camilla at Crathie Kirk, near Balmoral Castle, in August.

In a video shared earlier this month, Catherine shared her plans to return to public duties following completion of her chemotherapy treatment.

In the video, she said she was “looking forward to being back at work and undertaking a few more public engagements in the coming months” when she could.

The princess continued: “Despite all that has gone before, I enter this new phase of recovery with a renewed sense of hope and appreciation of life.”

She had been receiving chemotherapy for an undisclosed form of cancer since late February.

While receiving treatment, she had been undertaking some work behind the scenes – for example, meeting with her staff and representatives – but this was not officially recorded.

On Tuesday, she was listed in the official record of royal events for the first time since her cancer treatment ended.
