This year’s Trooping the Colour was the Princess of Wales’ first public appearance in six months, and the first since the Princess had shared her cancer diagnosis with the world.

The historic event is traditionally focused on the sovereign but with the Princess announcing her attendance the night before, the spotlight was well and truly on Kate, who looked as healthy and happy as ever.

“I’m looking forward to attending the King’s Birthday Parade this weekend with my family and hope to join a few public engagements over the summer, but equally knowing I am not out of the woods yet,” Kate wrote in her statement. “I am learning how to be patient, especially with uncertainty. Taking each day as it comes, listening to my body, and allowing myself to take this much-needed time to heal.”

The Princess of Wales wore a structured Jenny Packham dress paired with a wide-brim hat designed by Philip Treacy, with daughter Charlotte dressed in a similar outfit.

Princess Catherine wore royal purple to the Wimbledon Men’s Final on July 14, 2024, appearing alongside her daughter Charlotte, and sister Pippa Middleton.

For her second public outing, Kate Middleton chose a short-sleeve purple midi dress designed by Safiyaa, accessorised with gold jewellery and tan-coloured slingback heels from Camilla Elphick.

Another notable accessory was Kate’s purple and green ribbon, otherwise known as the ‘Committee bow’ which is gifted to the Patron of the All England Lawn Tennis Club – a role the Princess has performed since 2016, when Princess Catherine took over official duties from the late Queen Elizabeth.

In her first public appearance since announcing she had completed chemotherapy treatment, the Princess of Wales joined her husband to meet with the families of three children who were tragically killed in a mass stabbing in Southport.

For the occasion, Princess Catherine opted for a subdued chocolate brown coat and burgundy polka-dot pussy-bow dress, matching with William, who wore a burgundy sweater under his grey suit.

The Prince and Princess of Wales met with fire, ambulance and police services at the Southport Community Centre, to hear from the first responders who had been involved in the attack.

Following the meeting, the palace issued a statement to say the Prince and Princess of Wales had donated to a fundraiser set up to assist those involved in the horrific incident.

“In the aftermath of the incident, the National Police and Wellbeing Service set up a fundraiser to help those who were involved in the immediate response. It was supported by the Royal Foundation of the Prince and Princess of Wales and the Blue Light Card Foundation, who made donations to help fast track psychological and physical rehab for police and ambulance personnel involved in the attack and the subsequent riots,” the palace said.
