It’s a new day for Kate Middleton.

In a video message posted on social media, the Princess of Wales confirmed she has finished chemotherapy. “As the summer comes to an end, I cannot tell you what a relief it is to have finally completed my chemotherapy treatment,” she said, revealing that she will return to public duties over the next few months.

The video, shot by Will Warr, is an emotional one. It begins with Middleton walking through the woods with her husband Prince William and her children George, Charlotte, and Louis. Then, it cuts to the Princess driving through the country and into the forest alone. “The last nine months have been incredibly tough for us as a family. Life as you know it can change in an instant and we have had to find a way to navigate the stormy waters and road unknown,” she says in a voice-over. “The cancer journey is complex, scary, and unpredictable for everyone, especially those closest to you.” She dresses simply—first, in a light blue second dress, then in a patterned cotton midi.

The rest of the footage shows the Waleses undertaking simple outdoor activities, such as playing cards at a picnic, climbing trees, and running through fields. It also shows the young family spending a day at the beach. “With humility, it also brings you face to face with your own vulnerabilities in a way you have never considered before, and with that, a new perspective on everything,” she adds.
