Joseph Suaalii dropped from Wallabies starting lineup for Wales Test | Sporting News Australia

Date:

Australia have dropped Joseph Suaalii to the bench for their Test match against Wales in Cardiff on Sunday.

The 21-year-old made his Wallabies debut against England last weekend, earning player of the match honours for his impressive performance in the visitors’ stunning last-minute win at Twickenham.

However, coach Joe Schmidt has opted to move the cross-code star out of the starting line-up for the Wallabies’ second Spring tour match.

In one of six changes, Suaalii will be replaced at centre by Samu Kerevi.

Captain Harry Wilson is unavailable due to a concussion, which sees flanker Seru Uru come in and Rob Valetini switch to number eight.

Allan Alaalatoa replaces Taniela Tupou at prop and has been named captain for the clash.

Notably, Will Skelton will make his first Test appearance of 2024 when he takes the place of Jeremy Williams.

Max Jorgenson – who scored the winning try last weekend – comes in for the injured Dylan Pietsch, while scrum-half Nic White replaces Jake Gordon.

Two milestones will also be celebrated at the Millennium Stadium, with Valetini and Kerevi winning their 50th caps.

Kick-off between Australia and Wales is set for 3:10 am AEDT on Monday, November 18.
