Housebuilder Donates £1,000 to Support British Triathlete’s Journey to Australia

Date:

Persimmon Homes West Wales has donated £1,000 to British triathlete Daniel Cope, supporting his upcoming world Championship in Australia this summer.

Daniel Cope, a talented and dedicated triathlete, will represent the UK in the World Championship event in Townsville, Australia, in the Junior Men U24 category. He will compete in the long course event, which includes a 3k sea swim, a 130k bike ride, and a 30k run.

Daniel has previously competed in both half and full Ironman distances, achieving podium finishes. He aims to replicate these past performances on the international stage.

The financial support from Persimmon Homes West Wales will aid in covering travel expenses, training costs, and competition fees, ensuring Daniel can focus on his performance and achieve his best results on the global stage.

Persimmon presented the cheque to Daniel at its site in Llanilid, near Llanharan. When complete, the site will feature over 1,000 homes, a new primary school, and a village centre with leisure, retail, and community facilities. The scheme, partly set on the grounds of a former open-cast coal mine, focuses on building a sustainable and inclusive community.

Persimmon West Wales Sales Director, Sharon Bouhali said:

“We are delighted to support Daniel as he embarks on this exciting journey to compete in Australia.

“At Persimmon, we believe in supporting and nurturing local talent and helping individuals achieve their dreams.

“Daniel’s dedication and hard work are truly inspiring, and we’d like to wish him all the very best for his competition this summer.”

Daniel Cope said:

“I am incredibly thankful to Persimmon Homes West Wales for their generous donation.

“Competing in Australia is a significant opportunity for me, and this support will make a huge difference in my preparation and performance.

“Many thanks to Persimmon for its support – it’s greatly appreciated.”

The donation is part of Persimmon Homes’ Community Champions initiative, which aims to support local causes and individuals making a positive impact in their communities, and donates over £48,000 every year across Wales.
