Five dramatic waterfalls just a few hours drive away: How far away are they?

We have put together a list of waterfalls a short distance to travel from Worcestershire. 

They would make a good day trip, weekend stay or, if you are on the lookout for a new adventure, why not try and visit them all in one go?

Pistyll Rhaeadr Waterfall: 

Location: Pistyll Rhaeadr Waterfall, Tanypistyll, Llanrhaeadr-ym-Mochnant, Oswestry SY10 0BZ

Often regarded as one of the Seven Wonders of Wales, Pistyll Rhaeadr is a well-known destination.

The Afon Disgynfa drops 240 feet in three stages, creating one of the tallest waterfalls in the UK.

Visitors can explore various walking routes, including a three-mile circular trail or a more challenging ascent along the Berwyn ridge.

A small car park and café are located near the base of the waterfall, offering a convenient starting point for your exploration.

Dolgoch Falls: 

Location: Dolgoch Falls, Tywyn LL36 9UW

Nestled in the woodlands of Snowdonia National Park, Dolgoch Falls offers a picturesque autumnal setting just four miles from the coastal town of Tywyn.

Multiple marked walking trails provide options for all abilities, with the lower falls accessible via a gentle, wheelchair-friendly path.

For those seeking a historical touch, a cave at the end of the trail hints at a long-abandoned slate quarry.

Visitors can also access the falls via Talyllyn Railway, but it’s advisable to check train schedules in advance.

Devil’s Bridge Falls: 

Location: Devil’s Bridge Waterfalls, Woodlands, Pontarfynach, Aberystwyth SY23 3JW

Located 12 miles from Aberystwyth, the 300-foot Mynach Waterfalls are a highlight of Devil’s Bridge, an area renowned for its dramatic gorge and natural beauty. Since the 18th century, visitors, including poet William Wordsworth, have admired these falls.

The Devil’s Bridge Falls Nature Trail offers a 45-minute circular walk, with an alternative 10-minute route showcasing the area’s famous bridges.

Note that the steep terrain and many steps can be challenging for both visitors and pets.

The tearoom and gift shop are open seasonally, so it’s best to verify their availability before your visit.

Pistyll Rhiwargor: 

Location: Rhiwagor Waterfall, Bala SY10 0NE

At the northern end of Lake Vyrnwy within the RSPB Lake Vyrnwy Reserve, Pistyll Rhiwargor is one of the tallest waterfalls in Wales, with a drop of 100 metres.

The relatively easy walk to the falls from the car park takes about 20 to 30 minutes.

Visitors can explore beautiful private pools or continue their journey along the undulating path through trees and alongside the stream.

Proper footwear is essential due to the muddy conditions.

Tresaith Waterfall: 

Location: Tresaith Waterfall, Afon Saith

For a unique experience, Tresaith Waterfall cascades directly into the sea.

Located at Tresaith Beach, it’s best visited at low tide when the waterfall can be reached along the sand.

The bay is a popular destination for various water activities, while the nearby village offers convenient amenities like a shop, cafe and pub.

The coastal waters here are part of the Cardigan Bay Special Area of Conservation, highlighting the area’s ecological significance.
