According to the Chinese calendar, 2025 will be the year of the snake. But what does this mean?
The snake is the sixth of the 12-year cycle of animals which appear in the Chinese zodiac.
The 12 animals in the Chinese Horoscope, in order, are the rat, ox, tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, goat, monkey, rooster, dog, and pig.
Each animal is believed to embody certain personality traits and characteristics that influence the lives of those born in their year.
The ox (1949, 1961, 1973, 1985, 1997, 2009, 2021) and the rooster (1945, 1957, 1969, 1981, 1993, 2005, 2017) are supposed to be the most compatible with those born in the year of the snake.
Those born in the year of the pig (1935, 1947, 1959, 1971, 1983, 1995, 2007, 2019) are said to be the most incompatible.
What are the traits of those born in the year of the snake?
First, it must be noted that in Japan, the new sign of the zodiac starts on January 1st, while in China it starts at the new moon that falls between January 21st and February 20th.
So, people born in January or February may have two different signs in the two countries, but people born in late February automatically have one sign in both countries.
Summer is the season of those born in the year of the snake, with the lucky colours red, light yellow, and black.
Those born in the year of the snake are told to avoid white, golden, and brown.
The Year of Snake will begin on January 29th, 2025 (Chinese New Year) and end on February 16th, 2026.
