Carmarthenshire Conference Aims to Highlight Key Local Themes

Date:

A new conference and exhibition is aiming to boost wellbeing and prosperity in Carmarthenshire.

The inaugural It’s Your Carmarthenshire Conference and Exhibition takes place at Parc Y Scarlets, Llanelli, on Thursday July 11.

The conference, which is free to attend, is designed to unite the community, local government, businesses and organisations for discussions on key Carmarthenshire themes.

Organisers say these will include food and farming, the creative economy, community action, jobs and skills, business support, health and wellbeing, the visitor economy, nature and the environment.

Anyone interested in the promotion of wellbeing and prosperity across Carmarthenshire is encouraged to attend the event, which includes a free lunch.

The event is being organised by 4theRegion, organisers of the It’s Your Swansea Conference and Exhibition, and is delivered in partnership with Carmarthenshire County Council, Coleg Sir Gar, Swansea Building Society, Stori Cymru and People Speak Up.

This will be the first event of its kind in Carmarthenshire, and is part of a regional programme of events hosted by 4theRegion to promote collaboration across South West Wales.

The event will include an opening address by Carmarthenshire Council leader Councillor Darren Price, plus short talks from a range of local voices, hosted by Dawn Lyle of 4theRegion and James Owen of Stori Cymru.

4the Region says the day’s workshops, roundtable discussions and break-out groups will enable people from all walks of life to come together, have their voices heard, and discuss ways to shape a bright future for Carmarthenshire. A full report of the conversations will be published after the event, with actions and ideas for local groups to take forward.

The event also includes networking opportunities, including a local business exhibition with around 20 companies exhibiting.

4theRegion managing director Zoe Antrobus said:

“We’re delighted to be bringing the first It’s Your Carmarthenshire conference to Parc Y Scarlets. Local people, community groups, businesses and other organisations are encouraged to come along and get involved in the discussions throughout the day. We’ll be asking about what is already happening, what people would love to see, and how we can all collaborate for the future.

“The goal is to enable new connections to be made, existing relationships to be strengthened, and a range of collaborative opportunities to be highlighted, to promote increased wellbeing and prosperity across Carmarthenshire.

“There are no rules about how long you stay, so if you aren’t able to commit the full day, we’d encourage you to just drop in to enjoy some of the exciting and inspiring discussions.”

Carmarthenshire Council leader Darren Price added:

“As a council we have a vital role to play for our communities. By working closely with a range of organisations and businesses, we can tackle climate change, address the cost of living crisis, develop the economy, and improve life for everyone in Carmarthenshire. The regeneration of our town centres and rural towns relies on strong local partnerships. Our teams will be present at the event to listen to local businesses and communities and discuss the key themes. I urge everyone, including local residents and businesses, to participate in this important forum.”
