Wales is marking Climate Week.
The Welsh Government says investment into public transport and travel infrastructure is needed to tackle climate change.
We’ve been speaking to Deputy First Minister and Cabinet Secretary for Climate Change Huw Irranca Davies who’s also emphasising the need for more electric vehicles on Welsh Roads.
It comes as Wales Climate Week continues with transport the third largest carbon emitting sector in the country.
Deputy First Minister Huw Irranca-Davies said: “Part of my role is ensuring that Wales plays a part in tackling climate change.
“This includes reducing emissions from transport which is the third largest carbon emitting sector in Wales and this means switching the way in which we all travel.
“Electric vehicles are part (but not all) of the solution, alongside fewer cars on our roads, and more of us using public transport, walking and cycling where we can.
“But for many, I recognise this isn’t always practical, particularly as a large part of our country is rural.
“This is why we need to see a rapid shift towards zero emission technologies in vehicles alongside on-going investment in our public transport and active travel infrastructure.”
