Amey Launches Military Employment Programme

Date:

Amey, a leading provider of full life-cycle engineering, operations, and decarbonisation solutions for UK infrastructure, has launched a military employment programme.

The Service to Success initiative aims to leverage the distinctive and transferable skills of Service personnel, offering a direct employment pathway for those in their military resettlement period.

Amey’s Service to Success programme takes a proactive approach by engaging with military personnel before they leave, in contrast to other organisations that do so after their departure. This early engagement ensures participants receive tailored support and training while still in the military, better preparing them for their transition to civilian careers.

The programme offers personalised assessments to identify strengths, skills, and development areas. It includes employment training, mentor connections, stress management workshops, and access to Amey’s employee assistance service. Additionally, participants receive job skills training, job matching through a transferable skills matrix and CV panels, and benefit from an alumni network.

Amey collaborated closely with the Forces Transition Group (FTG) and BuildForce to develop the programme. Both organisations recognise the unique challenges faced during the transition from military service and provided invaluable insights to create an effective and supportive programme.

Andy Milner, Amey’s CEO, said:

“We are incredibly proud to develop the Service to Success military programme which reflects our deep respect and commitment to the Armed Forces community. This programme not only acknowledges the exceptional skills veterans bring from the military but also ensures they have the support and opportunities available to thrive in their new careers.”

John Stephenson, Managing Director FTG, said:

“Amey has been instrumental in the success of the FTG and our mission to solve the transitional space. Out of over 200 partners, they currently sit in the top three organisations for successful hires within our business. We look forward to experiencing the Service to Success programme and enhancing the growth seen in our first year as partners. Congratulations Amey, you have been truly spectacular.”

Amey’s Service to Success builds on the success of the Elite Armed Forces Veterans programme. Launched earlier this year, the Elite Armed Forces Veterans programme provides senior military personnel tailored opportunities to leverage their leadership experience while acquiring new skills for a rewarding career at Amey. Over12 months, participants refine their professional and commercial abilities, guided by dedicated mentors or coaches. Completion of the programme may lead to opportunities within the Senior Management Team as an Account Director or equivalent subject matter expert.

Amey has been delivering services to the UK’s Armed Forces for over 100 years, is a signatory of the Armed Forces Covenant, and recently secured a five-year revalidation under the MOD’s Gold Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS).
