The footage shows a van heading towards traffic on the Eastbound carriageway near Llandudno, before being stopped by police.
The incident occurred on Saturday morning (December 21) according to Llandrindod Wells Fire Station.
Traffic Wales say the driver of the vehicle was three times over the legal limit and have warned motorists against doing the same over Christmas.

A spokesperson for Traffic Wales said: “This is the terrifying reality of drink driving: a driver 3x over the limit going the wrong way on the A55 Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs isn’t just illegal—it’s deadly.
“This festive season, make the right choice. Don’t risk your life—or someone else’s.”
A spokesperson for Llandrindod Wells Fire Station added: “If you’re out over this festive season do not drink and drive.
“This unbelievable incident happened this morning where a driver 3 x the drink drive limit ended up on the wrong side of the duel carriageway not only risking his life but countless members of the public who would be unaware.”
North Wales Police have also warned against drug and drink driving over the festive period, after 90 arrests were made as part of their campaign in December.
