North Wales PCC urges businesses to book spots for online surgery

Date:

PCC Andy Dunbobbin will host the online event for business owners via Microsoft Teams on January 15, 2025, from 6.30pm to 7.30pm.

This initiative will provide a platform for business owners to discuss community policing and raise any concerns they may have.

It is part of Mr Dunbobbin’s forthcoming Police and Crime Plan for North Wales, in which he will pledge support for victims, communities, and businesses.

He is particularly interested in hearing from business owners about potential changes or improvements in the way policing engages with and serves the business community.

Mr Dunbobbin said: “This upcoming online surgery for the North Wales business community marks a significant step forward in our efforts to strengthen the bond between me and the communities we serve across North Wales.

“By embracing this digital format, we’re making it easier than ever for busy business owners to have their voices heard, regardless of their location.

“We have seen the rise in recent years of shoplifting, violence towards staff, increased instances of making off without payment, and vandalism against business premises.

“I am determined to work with business owners, North Wales Police, and other agencies to help reduce this and am looking forward to speaking to the region’s business community to hear their thoughts, discuss their problems, and to act on their concerns.”

The surgery will be an open, online forum, with the PCC joined by representatives from his office and North Wales Police.

Those attending are encouraged to submit questions in advance to allow for adequate preparation.

Further signposting will be provided if an issue is more suitably handled by other agencies and organisations.

Bookings to attend the online surgery are required to ensure effective management of numbers and to ensure the PCC is briefed on the issues to be discussed.

Mr Dunbobbin cannot intervene directly in operational matters or consider complaints about police officers, members of police staff, police community support officers, or special constables, as these must be processed through established channels.

Business owners wanting to book a spot for the online surgery should contact the PCC’s office with their name, contact information, and details of what they wish to discuss during the meeting.

This can be done by email at opcc@northwales.police.uk, by phone on 01492 805486, or by post to the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner North Wales, Police Headquarters, Glan y Don, Colwyn Bay, LL29 8AW.

Slots for the surgery are limited and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
