Caerphilly County Borough Council and Dragons RFC are pleased to announce a new 10-year agreement, ensuring that the Centre for Sporting Excellence in Ystrad Mynach will continue to serve as the training base for Dragons RFC. This long-term partnership provides a strong foundation for both organisations to build and grow upon in the coming years.

The Centre for Sporting Excellence has been instrumental in supporting the Dragons’ professional rugby squad and developing talent through their age-grade system. This renewed commitment ensures that the facility will remain a central hub for rugby development in the region.

Rhys Blumberg, CEO of Dragons RFC, commented: “This new long-term agreement with Caerphilly County Borough Council for the use of our training base at the Centre for Sporting Excellence in Ystrad Mynach gives us great stability as a club and ensures we can look forward and plan our future.”

Councillor Sean Morgan, Leader of Caerphilly County Borough Council, added: “We are delighted to extend our partnership with Dragons RFC. This agreement underscores our commitment to supporting sports development and providing opportunity in our community for both professional and community based clubs. This partnership gives more sustainability and resilience for the council to deliver top-tier facilities for our communities.

This partnership not only benefits the professional team but also enhances opportunities for aspiring rugby players in the community, reinforcing the shared goal of promoting sporting excellence and community engagement.
