105-Year-Old Cwmbran Resident Features in a Special Christmas Film made by Local Business

Date:

A 105-year-old Cwmbran resident features in a special Christmas film, which focuses on the inner child in everyone at Christmas.

Owen Filer has worked with local business Solar Buddies, the innovative Welsh product-based business founded by Laura Waters and Kelli Aspland, to narrate a heartwarming film called Everyone’s a Child at Christmas.

The three-minute film supports the Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospital Charity, with 10 per cent of all online sales via the Solar Buddies website being donated to the charity throughout this month.

In the festive tale, each staff member of award-winning Solar Buddies transforms into a child upon arriving at work. The younger versions of the team eagerly pack boxes, label parcels, decorate a Christmas tree, and open gifts, before transitioning back to adulthood as Laura and Kelli place a star on top of the tree.

The video’s message is simple yet poignant – everyone should be able to experience the wonder and joy of being a child at Christmas.

Owen Filer, who is a relative of Laura’s, said:

“I had a wonderful time at Solar Buddies. What Laura and Kelli have achieved is absolutely fantastic and I am so proud of them. Everyone was so kind to me and showed me everything at the factory – they work so hard! I am honoured to be a part of this alongside the children at this magical time of year. Thank you so much for asking me to take part. Merry Christmas, everyone.”

Laura Waters, co-founder of Solar Buddies, which produces child friendly sunscreen applicators, said:

“The festive period is a time for joy, giving, and connection. Through this video, we wanted to remind everyone of the magic of childhood at Christmas, and to give back by supporting the Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospital Charity, whose work is truly transformative for families across Wales. Both Kelli and I have had first-hand experience of the fantastic support the charity provides with our own children.”

Lucy Jones, Head of Fundraising and Development for the Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospital Charity, said:

“We’re delighted that Solar Buddies have chosen to support the Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospital Charity during December. This is our busiest time of year, when we turn our focus to ensuring that no child misses out on the magic of Christmas just because they are in hospital. The funds raised through this exciting initiative will help us put smiles on the faces of young patients, provide emotional and practical support to children and families, fund that saves lives and facilities that improve care.”

The festive video is available to view on Solar Buddies’ YouTube  and their social media channels.
