Service to reunite lost toys with children over the Christmas period
27th November 2024: Roadchef, one of the UK’s leading motorway service area operators, launches a new Toy Recovery Service. The service will reunite lost toys at their service stations with children travelling across the UK’s motorway network with their families this holiday season.
With 90% of parents in the UK having lost their child’s toy, Roadchef is stepping in to ease the pressure on parents and keep the festive spirit intact. Available nationwide across all Roadchef locations, the Toy Recovery Service offers parents peace of mind at every stop.
A recent survey of 500 parents conducted by Roadchef highlights just how far parents would go for their children: 40% would travel outside their town or city, and nearly a quarter (24.8%) would pay hundreds of pounds to retrieve a lost toy. Some parents would even go to extraordinary lengths—5% are willing to cross the country, while a dedicated 1% would travel abroad.
Over 40% of parents admitted to telling creative tales when their child’s toy went missing, with stories like “the fairy took it,” “it went on holiday,” and “it’s off to help Father Christmas.”
This new service brings a practical solution to a common holiday mishap. With 30 service stations all over the UK motorway network, Roadchef will provide much needed comfort to parents travelling this festive season.
Mark Fox, CEO at Roadchef said: “Christmas is a wonderful time of year, but not one that doesn’t come without its stresses. All parents will know the dread of losing their child’s beloved toy and it can quickly turn a happy journey into a difficult one. With our Toy Recovery Service, we hope to bring peace of mind to parents using our services during the Christmas period and ensure no toy is left behind.”
How the Roadchef Toy Recovery Service Works:
- Report the Lost Toy: If a toy is left behind at a Roadchef service station, parents can report the missing item via a dedicated online form
- Quick Identification and Tracking: Roadchef will actively search and track down any reported lost toys within the service area network and publicise any lost toys found at its service stations across social media channels and its dedicated landing page.
- Reuniting Families with Their Toys: Once a toy is found, Roadchef will arrange for its safe return, either through pickup from the service station or via a convenient delivery option directly to the family’s home address.
With the new Toy Recovery Service, Roadchef hopes to reduce the need for these creative cover stories, ensuring that children are reunited with their toys—and that parents can enjoy a little more peace of mind this Christmas.
