A fleet of magnificent Minis will take to the roads of North Wales next month to raise funds for children’s charity Hope House/Ty Gobaith.

Members of the North West Minis aim to put out over 20 Minis during the day.

Their Merry Minis event is being supported by leading North Wales law firm Swayne Johnson, which has a base in Mold, and offices in St Asaph, Denbigh, Ruthin, Llandudno and Tattenhall, near Chester, will see cars, drivers and passengers getting into the Christmas spirit with fancy dress as they take to the road on Saturday morning, December 14.

Club members own all kinds of Mini, ranging from vintage examples of the car, which first took to the road in 1959, to the latest marques made by German car giant BMW.

North West Minis administrator Lisa Harbour, who is also Head of the Family Team at Swayne Johnson, says the mighty minis will meet up at Broughton on Deeside before setting off on a roundabout route.

They will take in breakfast at the Ponderosa on the Horseshoe Pass before setting off via Bala for Colwyn Bay where the club members will put the finishing touches to the cars ready for their visit to Ty Gobaith.

Lisa said: “Hope House/Ty Gobaith is a fantastic charity which supports children with life-limiting conditions and their families at its hospices at Conwy and Oswestry and which serves a huge area of North Wales, Cheshire and Shropshire.

“It does such wonderful work and provides so much more than is available through the NHS and that incudes visits like this when the young people at the hospice in Conwy will be able to see these wonderful cars in their Christmas best.

“I joined Swayne Johnson last year and one of the things that attracted me to them was their commitment to the areas where they operate and they have offices at Tattenhall, near Chester, at Mold, Ruthin, Denbigh, St Asaph and Llandudno.

“They encourage us to support local good causes and organisations and Hope House/Ty Gobaith covers such a huge area where we operate and does such amazing work that this is a really good fit for us at Swayne Johnson Solicitors and for North West Minis, who have been very keen to use their platform to support local causes.

“To be honest when my husband got a Mini at first I wasn’t very impressed but then I drove it and became hooked. I’ve now got a very nice Mini to get me to work and back.

“North West Minis is a friendly and inclusive club for Mini enthusiasts across North Wales and North West England.

“From small local meets to club stands at bigger events our members are always eager to share their passion with each other and with their local communities.”

Vanessa Marubbi, Hope House Area Fundraiser, said: “We are so excited to welcome North West Minis to Ty Gobaith next month

“The children and families will be delighted to see the Merry Minis – we can’t wait to see their faces.

“We are so grateful to Swayne Johnson and North West Minis for making his possible. Visits like this mean that the children we care for have the chance to experience things in the comfort of the hospice surroundings making sure that the don’t miss out on magical festive moments.

“We would also like to thank Swayne Johnson for their ongoing support. Each year it costs £9.6 million to run the hospices and we simply could not do this without the generosity and kindness of local businesses and our community.”

Swayne Johnson Managing Director Lynette Viney-Passig said: “We’re delighted to help Hope House/Ty Gobaith with the fantastic work they are doing with young people from across the area where we practice.

“Supporting Hope House is very important for us – many of the firm’s employees are parents themselves and supporting a children and family charity is only natural and Swayne Johnson wants to support the wonderful work that is being carried out by Hope House/Ty Gobaith right across North Wales and the borders.

“We have a tradition of encouraging our staff to become involved with the communities in which we operate and we have a strong tradition of supporting local charities and good causes and we set up our special Swayne Johnson Charity Fund to make it easier for applications to be made to us for help.

“The aim was to enable us to identify local charities and those serving North Wales and Cheshire and it has worked very well and already we have helped a number of worthy recipients and are looking forward to receiving more enquiries.”
