Wales are still in with a chance of winning automatic promotion to League A of the Nations League heading into the final round of fixtures.
Had Craig Bellamy been offered that scenario before the campaign got under way, he surely would have accepted it.
To be sure, Wales are outsiders to finish top of the group and go straight up to the top tier. In order to do so without any complications, they must beat Iceland and hope Turkey lose to Montenegro.
If Turkey draw that match in Niksic, Wales would need to win this game by three clear goals to stand a chance of finishing first.
The runners-up in the group will advance to a promotion play-off. That would be a decent consolation prize for Wales, but they are not yet guaranteed it.
Indeed, an Iceland victory here would condemn Wales to third place in the group and a relegation play-off. In short, it remains possible for the Dragons to be playing in League A, League B or League C next time around.
It is the type of night where Wales fans would be advised to watch the action unfold with a calculator in one hand and blood pressure medication in the other.
A 0-0 draw with Turkey on Saturday night kept their automatic promotion hopes alive. A loss there would have ended that ambition, but Wales dug in to pick up a point in Kayseri.
In truth, they were fortunate to do so. The expected goals data showed Turkey with 3.02 and Wales with 0.24. The hosts missed an 89th-minute penalty to compound their woes.
Bellamy was pleased with the pluck and grit his team showed, though, and it is testament to the new manager that Wales remain unbeaten after five games in the Nations League.
“[I learned] a lot [about the team],” Bellamy said. “Defending the box, we’re exceptional, so that’s credit to previous managers. We’re really strong putting bodies on the line.
“I knew there would be a bit of pain today, it was a difficult game against really good opposition. Can we improve on the ball? Can our angles, can our timing be right? That’s what we need to improve on.”

But the fact they have gone unbeaten in two games each against Turkey and Montenegro, and on a trip to Iceland, is impressive given the change in manager.
The job is not done yet, of course, and a loss here and third-place finish would make everyone look at the campaign very differently.

Yet we expect Wales to come out on top on Tuesday evening. That is unlikely to be enough to finish top of the group (Turkey should get the job done against Montenegro) but it would at least give Wales another shot at promotion.
The Cardiff City Stadium generates an excellent atmosphere when the national team are in town. Wales have not lost on home turf in their last eight games.

Bellamy was understandably delighted with the defensive resilience his team showed against Turkey, and that has indeed been a strength for Wales throughout the campaign.
In their five games to date, the Dragons have had their backline breached just three times. No team in League B has conceded fewer goals up to now.
Three of Wales’ five matches have contained under 2.5 goals. One of the exceptions was a 2-2 draw with Iceland in October, but the reverse fixture is likely to be lower-scoring.
One reason for that is the stakes are higher this time around. Iceland need to win, so the last thing they will want to do is fall behind early on because they were too open.
Wales are a measured side under Bellamy, so they will not go gung-ho either. One goal might be enough for either team to emerge triumphant.

Harry Wilson to score any time
Harry Wilson joined up with Wales this international break in a confident mood.
In his previous two appearances for Fulham, the forward had scored three goals – including a sensational late double against Brentford to turn a 1-0 deficit into a 2-1 win.
Wilson has been Wales’ most productive attacker throughout this Nations League campaign, scoring three of their five goals.
He is his country’s designated penalty-taker, which offers him another route onto the scoresheet.
Iceland will have to be mindful of giving Wilson too much space in and around the penalty area on Tuesday.
