A Mid Wales community music festival filled a whole weekend

Date:

A nautical themed concert, a memorial event, a festival service and a Roald Dahl musical were all part of a Mid Wales community’s music festival.

This year’s Beulah Music Festival took place at the beginning of October with performances over a weekend.

Friday saw locals including local children and Beulah choir performing in the Reading Room – the theme being the Sea and all things nautical to celebrate 200 years of the RNLI.

Donations over the weekend were taken for the RNLI.

President for the Festival was Mrs. Susan Price who spoke about the need for volunteers to keep events such as this festival alive.

On Saturday the Mervyn Bourdillon Memorial Concert was held in Eglwys Oen Duw where Dolau Mixtures Choir from Dolau entertained.

The young soloists were Ioan Mabbutt (voice) from Aberystwyth who was accompanied by Muiread Mathews of Beulah, and Sirwan Hariri (keyboard) from Beulah.

Both soloists gave inspired performances to an appreciative audience.

Sunday saw a Festival Service at Eglwys Oen Duw followed by the Children’s Day held in Garth Village Hall.

Children from local schools learned the Roald Dahl musical, Cinderella, and performed it brilliantly for parents and friends later in the afternoon. Thanks must go to the committee for organising these special events.
