Aberporth Bilingual Playgroup, which provides education in the non-maintained sector for Ceredigion County Council, won the ‘The World Outside’ Award.
This was due to its commitment to developing children’s learning by making use of outdoor natural environments and the council’s forest school training.
Despite not having an outdoor area attached to the setting, the playgroup utilises various natural environments within walking distance.
They also explore woods and provide challenging equipment to enhance learning.
Rhiannon and Katie, leaders of Aberporth Playgroup, said: “Staff worked tirelessly to create a nurturing environment for our young learners, and this achievement is a testament to their dedication.
“A heartfelt thank you to our management committee who have been incredibly supportive over the past year.
“The setting is grateful to the children, parents, staff, and the support of Ceredigion County Council.”
Councillor Wyn Thomas, Ceredigion’s cabinet member responsible for schools, lifelong learning, and skills, said: “This recognition highlights their outstanding achievement in the world outside.
“The staff have worked tirelessly to create a nurturing environment for our young learners, and this achievement is a testament to their dedication.
“Congratulations to all involved.”
