Open Connect Expands into Wales with New Premium Site

Date:

A leading out of home media company is announcing further expansion into Wales, as it opens a new state-of-the-art Open Connect screen in Swansea.

The new site, named Swansea Central, is launching in September and set to become the first premium large format digital out of home site available in the city, with this central retail location boasting an average footfall of around half a million each fortnight (447,662).

With an upmarket ABC1 audience including 18-24s, the new site will open doors for brands by offering incremental reach across campaigns in Wales.

Open Media’s expansion into Wales’ second biggest city after Cardiff marks a new chapter in the company’s growth, as it sets the stage for further expansion into new locations.

Swansea Central will be the first Open Connect site in Wales, growing the Open Connect network to 24 screens strategically positioned in 9 key UK cities to reach 57m individuals across the UK, while adding to the network’s overall full motion capability.

With the addition of Swansea, two-thirds of the network will now offer full motion capability, enabling brands to bring to life highly captivating and engaging campaigns, including 3D creative.

Situated on the bustling pedestrianised thoroughfare of Oxford Street, Swansea Central is strategically located at the heart of the city’s booming shopping district, home to famed global retailers such as H&M, alongside some of the UK’s oldest high street brand names.

The site is in close proximity to the Quadrant Shopping Centre, which is next to key household retail brands, attracting an annual footfall of almost 7 million people, making it a prime location.

Mike Smith, CEO at Open Media, said:

“Out –of home advertising has the power to create meaningful connections between brands and consumers, and Swansea Central is the perfect platform for brands to tell their story in a dynamic and impactful way.

“We are excited to bring our unique offering to Swansea and to see the positive impact it will have on our clients and the local community.”
