Beaumaris Pier crash: Three dead after collision

Three people have died following a crash in north Wales, police have said.

It happened on Wednesday afternoon on Anglesey.

The three were pronounced dead at the scene on Alma Street, on the seafront near Beaumaris Pier.

“We are appealing to anybody who witnessed the incident that hasn’t already spoken to officers, or anybody who might have dashcam footage, to please get in touch,” said Ch Insp Caroline Mullen-Hurst.

North Wales Police said officers were trying to establish what happened, and urged people to avoid the area the High Street, which is expected to be closed for some time.

Local MP Llinos Medi called the incident “disastrous news”.

“I am thinking of everyone who has been affected today. It is news that has shaken our community here on the island,” she said.

Rhun ap Iorwerth, Plaid Cymru leader and Member of the Senedd for Ynys Môn, where the incident took place, urged people to follow the police’s advice to avoid the area.

“This is devastating news and my condolences are with those affected and their loved ones,” he said.

Police said officers, along with fire, ambulance and air ambulance crews attended.

The Welsh Ambulance Service said it was called to the scene shortly before 14:45 BST on Wednesday.

Beaumaris is located on the east of the island of Anglesey and is a popular holiday destination, with many tourists visiting the Unesco-listed Beaumaris Castle or nearby Puffin Island.
