Council to Share Vision at Sioe Môn

Date:

Staff from many of Isle of Anglesey County Council’s services will be on hand at Sioe Môn to explain how their work is helping to deliver their vision, aims and objectives.

The Council Plan 2023-28 was launched last year and provides a focal point for all decision-making; a framework to plan and drive forward priorities; shape annual spending; monitor performance and progress made.

The council’s vision is to ‘create healthy and prosperous communities on Anglesey, where residents can thrive’.

The council says that attending one of the biggest events on the Anglesey calendar, Sioe Môn (Anglesey County Show) – held at the Mona Showground, near Gwalchmai, on August 13 and 14th – will give it an opportunity to raise awareness of the vision and the Council Plan’s aims and objectives over the coming years.

Council to Share Vision at Sioe Môn

The Council Plan’s six top priorities are:

  • The Welsh Language: increasing opportunities to learn and use the language.
  • Social Care and Wellbeing: providing the right support at the right time.
  • Education: ensuring an effective provision for today and for future generations.
  • Housing: ensuring that everyone has the right to call somewhere home.
  • Economy: promoting opportunities to develop the island’s economy.
  • Climate Change: responding to the crisis, tackling change and working towards. becoming a net zero organisation by 2030.

Staff will be on hand to explain how their day-to-day roles are helping to delivering the Council Plan.

Deputy Council Leader, Councillor Gary Pritchard, said:

“Our presence at Sioe Môn again provides us with an opportunity to highlight how the County Council is working on behalf of residents and local communities.

“The Council Plan is integral to ensuring we deliver for Ynys Môn through the numerous services we provide the public. It was created with input from local residents, businesses, stakeholders and partners. At its core is our desire to continue to work with them to ensure the best possible services, improve the quality of life for all and create opportunities for future generations.”

Deputy Council Leader, Councillor Robin Williams, added:

“We look forward to attending the Show, which is without doubt, one of the biggest events in the Anglesey calendar, and wish the organisers, those competing or have trade stands all the best over the two days.”

Anglesey Chief Executive, Dylan J Williams, said:

“As a County Council, we’re pleased to be back at the showground once again, supporting this special event. The Anglesey County Show raises the Island’s profile, supports our agricultural community and wider economy.

“I can think of no better stage than Sioe Môn to tell residents and visitors about our aspirations for the Island and its communities.”
