Charity Golf Day Raises More Than £12,500 for Popham Kidney Support

Date:

Golfers from across Wales, England and Scotland gathered at Clyne Golf Club to support Swansea-based charity Popham Kidney Support.

The competition raised £12,500, which will be used to support children and their families living with kidney disease.

One ongoing project to benefit from the funds raised is a “Residential Activity Weekend,” where the children are accompanied by renal social workers and support staff. Local children suffering with CKD benefit greatly from these weekends, engaging in activities that would be typically out of reach for them. Additionally, the weekends provide much-needed respite for their families.

Sponsors for the golf day included Andrew Evans Painting, Shirgar Butter, C.E.M Days, Yuasa Batteries, Mahle Filtration, J.C.Irvine and Phil Lake, and many more.

This year saw a record 50 teams and 200 golfers participating. The event also featured a fundraising dinner, presentation, raffle and auction.

This year’s tournament winners were the Rees Family: dad Mark and his three sons; Vaughn, Ashton and Mason.

Joanne Popham, CEO of Popham Kidney Support, said:

“We were deeply moved once again by the incredible support from everyone involved. There were smiles all around as people enjoyed competitive fun while helping us raise vital funds to support local children and their families.

“We are immensely grateful to everyone who participated for their generosity – our sponsors, all the participants, and especially Kim Loosmore for his continued hard work. We look forward to seeing you all again next year.”

Kim Loosmore, the event organiser, added:

“I’d like to extend my heartfelt thanks to Clyne Golf Club, all the teams and sponsors for their continued support. The course, as usual, was in excellent condition, and the camaraderie was truly remarkable. Despite the rain everyone had a fantastic day!

“I look forward to seeing you all again next year, because once you’re part of this event, it’s hard to imagine missing it. Together, we’re making a real difference.”
