Date:

The Star has shut down its poker machines after a glitch with an upgrade completed in preparation for the change to cashless gaming.

In an ASX statement today, The Star Entertainment Group said it made the decision to switch off pokies from 10pm on Saturday after post-upgrade testing identified “system performance issues”.

All electronic gaming machines and electronic table games across the Star’s three venues in Sydney, Brisbane and the Gold Coast have been affected.

“The decision was taken by the Star to ensure compliance with relevant regulations, and to maintain the company’s commitment to safer gambling procedures,” the group said.

“The Star is working closely with its external provider Konami to address the operational issues as soon as possible and will provide an update once operations return to normal.”

Brisbane’s Treasury, The Star Gold Coast and The Star Sydney will remain open with table games, restaurants, bars and entertainment operating as normal.
