Welsh actor Matthew Rhys said he hopes that Taylor Swift mentioning Dylan Thomas in one of her new songs will introduce the poet’s work to a new generation.
A new play titled “Dear Mr Thomas: A New Play for Voices” is about the poet’s final years and will be premiered in New York on Tuesday evening.
Dylan will be portrayed by Matthew Rhys who admitted he has a “giddy obsession” with the poet.
“There was a 12-year-old girl in our household and when the album dropped, there was great reverence on that day when we’re all told to be quiet so that lyrics to be listened to.
“So when I heard Dylan mentioned I went ‘woohoo’ and was told to be quiet straightaway,” he said.
