Michelin-Recommended Restaurant Set to Relocate to Cardiff

Date:

An independently run pub and restaurant which secured its place in the prestigious Michelin Guide within eight months of opening is moving location.

Hiraeth, which was founded in the village of Llysworney, just outside of Cowbridge, has announced plans to move later this year to premises in Cowbridge Road, Cardiff.

Co-owned by chefs Lewis Dwyer and Andy Aston, Hiraeth quickly gained acclaim, securing a spot in the Michelin Guide and receiving recognition from The Good Food Guide and two AA Rosettes. Michelin inspectors praised the “seasonal Welsh produce at the bedrock – from fine cheeses to luxury truffles – with the chefs delivering dishes that show ambition, backed up by sound understanding.”

Earlier this year, Hiraeth moved into the 65-cover restaurant within Court Colman Hotel, Bridgend – a move made necessary after the landlord of their original site chose to put the 400-year-old building up for sale.

But whilst the Hiraeth team quickly rose to the challenge of serving the hotel’s clientele as well as their own dedicated following, chefs and co-owners Lewis and Andy have now decided that July 27th will be their last service at Court Colman Manor, as they look to move Hiraeth back to a smaller scale premises where they can concentrate fully on their core offering.

Lewis said:

“This isn’t a decision we’ve made lightly. We’ve put a lot of hard work and love into the Court Colman site, and their team have been fantastic hosts and extremely welcoming. That being said, after a period of reflection, we realised that we can’t fully deliver our vision for Hiraeth at the hotel. Ultimately, this is what is best for both Hiraeth and The Court Colman Hotel guests.

Andy continued:

“We are incredibly excited to be taking over the lease on Cowbridge Road and can’t wait to bring our true vision for Hiraeth to Victoria Park. We have really enjoyed our short but lovely time at Court Colman Manor, but we now know in our hearts that Hiraeth is better suited to its own premises. We are itching to become a part of the buzzing hospitality scene in the Welsh capital and should have more news to share on our opening plans very soon.”
